Privileges of Believers

Revised 11-2015

WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED?

There are two groups of people on the Earth today: (1.) Believers who are the children of God, and (2.) unbelievers who are the children of the devil.
1 John 3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. (KJV) . . . The difference between God's children and the devil’s children is super clear! IF you do not do what is right, IF you do not love others, you are not God’s child; you belong to the devil’s family.
Everyone who is now a child of God was once a child of the devil. Because of Adam and Eve’s sin in the Garden of Eden (Gen.2:16; 3:1-7), their sin was transferred to the entire human race. We ALL are born with a sinful nature (Psalm 58:3) from day one! We ALL, every one of us, are sinners (Rom.3:10, 23). We ALL need the forgiveness and salvation that only Christ Jesus can offer. NO one is exempt! Until we turn to Christ to save us from the penalty of sin (Hell) and from God’s wrath (Rom.5:1-10), we are doomed to everlasting destruction in the fires of Hell (Mat.25:41), along with the devil.
Only belief in Jesus, by faith, can bring us forgiveness of our sins, make God our Friend instead of our enemy, and guarantee us a mansion in Heaven for eternity, thus saving us! Without Jesus we are walking on that huge wide road that leads to Hell. We need to get on the narrow road that leads to Heaven. We need to be saved!

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BELIEVE?

You may know that God’s love and grace are limitless even if you are not a ‘believer,’ but you may not know that UNLESS you believe on the Name of Jesus, God’s Son, as your personal Saviour and Lord, you will never experience that love or that grace, in the salvation of your soul.
To believe means you know you cannot save yourself.
To believe means that you know that salvation is through Christ alone; that only He can save you.

To believe means that if you want to go to Heaven, you must go through Christ.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.  [KJV] . . . Heaven is where the Father is.
Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. [KJV]

To believe means you know Christ IS who He says He is, and will do what He said He will do.
To believe means you accept what Christ did on the cross; redeeming your soul from Hell and God’s wrath, and completely forgiving you.
To believe means you must have a personal relationship with Christ; trusting Him as your loyal Friend and Guide in all things.
To believe means you know you must obey Christ.
John 15:14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.  [KJV] . . . DO YOU BELIEVE?

Privileges of Believers
Introduction

I have often thought about all the tremendous privileges (blessings) that true believers have, that unbelievers do not have. And I often wonder WHY there aren’t more believers because of these great privileges we have.
These privileges do NOT make us better that others. It is only by our faith in Christ Jesus and the amazing grace of God that we possess them.
Eph. 3:12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him. [KJV] . . .
Because of Christ Jesus and our faith in Him, we can come fearlessly into God's Presence, and be assured of His welcoming us and hearing our prayers.
Romans 5:1-2 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2  By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. [KJV] . . . This Passage gives us TWO benefits. ACCESS into this grace means we can access God in prayer. God will NOT hear an unbeliever’s prayers (Deut.31:18; John 9:31; 17:9). Only when we trust in Jesus will God ever hear our prayers. We also have HOPE. We can “rejoice in hope” knowing we have eternal life waiting for us in Heaven (Titus 1:2; 2:13). Every child of God has this hope. We have a future in eternity!

We, as believers (God’s children), can go right into the Presence of God, to His Throne of grace, with hearts fully trusting Him. We can hold tightly to the hope (Tit.1:2) we have, for God can always be trusted to keep His Promises. We must always encourage one another, and reach out to the lost ones, telling them the Good News about Jesus. His coming back again is drawing near. It is our solemn duty to “Go ye therefore” (Mat.28:19-20). We must not be selfish with the privileges we have, for the love of God is sufficient enough for the whole world.

Privileges of Believers
Chapter 1
Tremendous Blessings

We must believe in the Name of Jesus and believe His death on the cross was for our benefit. It is then and only then, that we become believers (God’s children).
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: [KJV] . . . Only those who believe God (1 John 5:10) and welcome Jesus Christ as Lord of their lives are reborn spiritually, receiving new life from God. Through our faith in Christ, this new birth changes us from the inside out. It makes us a new person! It rearranges our attitudes, desires and motives. Being born makes you physically alive and places you in your parents’ family. Being born of God makes you spiritually alive and puts you in God’s family.
The word power is not physical power, but power which is power of authority. When we receive Him, Jesus has the authority to make us the sons of God. Believe on His name is a phrase never used in Scripture for any mere creature, not even the prophets or apostles, because it carries with it the idea of trust befitting only to God. Jesus gives those that believe in Himself power to become sons of God. He has this awesome power! Believe it!
By faith in Christ we enjoy redemption, the purchase of His atoning Blood. We are forgiven of our sins, and all other spiritual blessings are bestowed upon us! It is an absolute favor from God’s amazing grace, to be delivered from Satan’s kingdom and brought into the Kingdom of Christ, knowing that all trials will soon end, and that every believer will be among those who will participate in the Rapture (1 Thes.4:14-18). All TRUE believers will be spared the horrors of Great Tribulation (1 Thes.1:10; 5:9; Phil.3:20; Rev.3:10).

Forgiven of all our sins!
Col. 1:12-14 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: 13  Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14  In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: [KJV] . . . We should thank the Father, who has enabled us to share the inheritance that belongs to God's children. He has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness, and has brought us into the Kingdom of His dear Son. Jesus has purchased our freedom with His precious Blood and has forgiven all our sins.
Romans 4:7-8 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. [8] Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. (KJV) . . . Jesus is willing and able to forgive our sins when we turn to Him in faith. Jesus paid a huge price on the cross for us. It is an insult to think that any sin is too great for Him to cover. We tend to categorize sins; this is a small one, that is a big one. To God, sin is sin. God’s Word clearly states that sins confessed are sins forgiven (1 John 1:9). Unbelievers will be judged for every sin they ever committed simply because they won’t humble themselves and accept Christ and His forgiveness.

Rest for our souls.
Matthew 11:28-30 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. [29] Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. [30] For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (KJV) . . . We don’t have to bear the burden of guilt and shame. If we go to Jesus with our heavy burdens of sin, He will give us rest for our souls. Only with Jesus can we find this kind of rest; a resting of our very souls. An unbeliever cannot have this wondrous rest!

Spiritual Knowledge.
Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. (KJV)
Proverbs 2:3-6 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; [4] If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; [5] Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God. [6] For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. (KJV) . . . Wisdom starts with God and His Word, the source of “knowledge and understanding.” In this sense, wisdom is His gift to us. But He gives it only to those who sincerely seek it. Because God’s wisdom is hidden from unbelievers, it takes effort to find and use it. The path to wisdom is not easy. True wisdom belongs to God. He will reward our sincere and persistent search for it.
Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. (KJV) . . . Wisdom begins with knowing God. The more we know about God and the closer we are to Him, the more knowledge we will have. To really know God is not just to know the facts about Him, but to stand in awe of Him and have a close personal relationship with Him.

Eternal Life.
John 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. [KJV] . . . To eat Living Bread means to accept Christ into our lives and committing our lives over to Him; to depend on Him to teach, guide and empower us. If we trust Him and rely completely on Him, we have eternal life. If we keep back any part of ourselves, not totally committing our all to Him, we are not worthy of Him.
John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. [KJV] . . . Christ is the Door, between us and all our enemies? He is the only Door through which we can pass to Heaven. He also opens the door of communication with God the Father. An unbeliever cannot access God (John 9:31; Is.59:2). We must come into the family of God by Christ Jesus, the Door.
Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. [KJV] . . . Salvation is as close to you as your heart and mouth. When you truly believe in your heart and say with your mouth that Christ is the risen Lord, you will be saved. There will be times when people let us down and when troubles come our way. But God will keep His Promise, those who call on Him will be saved. God won’t ever fail to provide eternal life to those who believe in His precious Son.

Holy Spirit.
1 Cor. 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? [KJV]
1 Cor. 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. [KJV] . . . When a person becomes God’s child, the Holy Spirit takes up residence within them. He or she is born into God’s family (John 1:12). The same Holy Spirit completely fills our innermost beings. As members of God’s family, we may have different interests and gifts, but we are one with Christ because of the Holy Spirit abiding within us.
Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. [KJV] . . . Have you ever worried that you might not be God’s child? A TRUE Christian is anyone who has the Spirit of God living in him or her. If you have sincerely trusted Christ for your salvation and acknowledged Him as Lord, then the Holy Spirit has come into your life, and you are a Christian. When the Holy Spirit is working within you, you will believe that Jesus Christ is God’s Son and that eternal life comes through Him. You will then act as Christ directs. You will have help in your prayers and in daily problems. You will be empowered to serve God and do His will. IF the Holy Spirit does not abide within you, you are not God’s child!

Wisdom.
James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. (KJV) . . . By wisdom, James does not mean only knowledge, but also the ability to make wise decisions in difficult times. When we need wisdom, we can ask God, and He will generously supply what we need. We do not have to fumble around in the dark, hoping to stumble upon answers. Wisdom begins with respect for God, leads to right living, and results in ability to tell right from wrong. God is willing to give us wisdom, but we are unable to receive it if our goals are self-centered instead of centered on God. To know God’s will, read His Word and ask Him for help to obey it. I came upon a definition of three words I had trouble with years ago. KNOWLEDGE = having facts. It is good. We go to school to gather knowledge. WISDOM = applying those facts to life. Knowledge is useless without wisdom. UNDERSTANDING = is comprehension, the ability to think and learn.

Divine Fellowship.
Rev. 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. (KJV) . . . Jesus wants to have a personal relationship with us. He can do that only if we open our heart to Him. He is patient, but persistent in trying to get through to us. He will never break and enter, only knock! It’s our decision whether or not to open our lives to Him. When we open the door of our hearts to Him, His life-changing Presence and power is there with us.

Fellowship.
Rev. 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. [KJV] . . . Jesus wants to have fellowship with us (a personal relationship), and He wants us to open the door of our hearts to Him. He is patient, but persistent in trying to get through to us. He does not break and enter, just knock! It’s our decision whether or not we open our lives to Him. His awesome life changing Presence and power are there for all who open to Him.
John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. (KJV) . . . Eternal life is to know the One and only true God, and Jesus Christ, the One whom God the Father sent to Earth. IF we do not have a good relationship with Jesus, we really don’t have eternal life. Fellowship with Jesus is a tremendous blessing!

Peace.
Philip. 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (KJV) . . . Do you want to worry less? Then pray more! When  worry seems to take over, stop and pray. God’s peace is different from the world’s peace.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. [KJV] . . . True peace is not absence of conflict, nor is it good feelings. It comes only from knowing God is in control. Only Jesus can give us true peace in our hearts.
Col. 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. (KJV) . . . Let Christ’s peace rule in your heart. The world (unbelievers) cannot know the peace that God’s children have deep within us. It is impossible, for this peace in our heart and soul comes only from knowing Jesus in a personal way. This amazing peace that God blesses us with is so wonderful that there are not enough words to describe it. A true privilege indeed!

Needs Supplied.
Phil. 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (KJV) . . . ALL our needs are supplied from God’s glorious riches, which are made available to us because of our faith in Christ Jesus. Whatever we need, He will always supply, both physically and spiritually. But remember, there is a big difference between our wants and our needs. Many people just want to feel good and avoid discomfort or pain. God may not always give us all that we want. My friend, trusting in Christ changes our attitudes and appetites from wanting everything to accepting His provision and power to live for Him.

Power.
Col. 1:11-12 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; [12] Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: (KJV) . . . We are strengthened with His glorious power so that we will have all the patience and endurance we need. We should always thank God the Father, who has made us fit to share the inheritance that belongs to His holy people. Let us live in the light of Jesus.

Love.
Eph. 3:19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. (KJV) . . . God’s love is absolutely complete. It reaches into every corner of our life. It is wide, for it reaches out to the whole world. God’s love is long, it continues the length of our lives. It is high, it rises to the heights of our joy. His love is deep, it reaches into the depths of our discouragement, despair and even death. God’s children can never be lost to God’s love. This love is fully expressed only in Christ Jesus. When we are united with Christ, His empowering Spirit makes us complete.
1 Thes. 3:12 And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you: (KJV) . . . When we are full of God’s love, it overflows to others. Love is not simply being nice to others; we must show them love. Our love should grow, more every day. If your capacity to love is the same, day after day, ask God to fill you with His never ending supply. Then look for chances to show His love. You can never give all your love away. The more you give, the more you have.

Joy.
Psalm 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. (KJV) . . . God shows us the right road of life. We have joy now, because of His Presence within, and we know deep in our heart and soul, we will have pleasures of living with Him forever. True joy to me is knowing I have eternal life.
Romans 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. [KJV] . . . The Kingdom of God is NOT what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Mat. 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. [KJV]
Romans 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. [KJV] . . , Here is yet another one of those beautiful titles for our God. “The God of hope.” May our awesome God, the Source of all hope, fill you with all joy and peace because of your faith in Him. May your hope continue to grow and abound by the power of the Holy Spirit who abides within you. Amen.
God of patience and consolation (Rom.15:5); the God of all comfort (2 Cor.1:3-4); the God of peace (Rom.15:33; 16:20; Phil.4:9; 1 Thes.5:23; Heb.13:20). God is love (1 John 4:8). Our Almighty God is ALL of these!
Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, [KJV] . . . The fruits of the Spirit are exact opposites to the lust of the flesh.
Love vs hate. Peace vs variance. Joy vs strife. Longsuffering (patience) vs quick temper, wrath. Gentleness vs fierce, cruel. Goodness vs evil, immoral. Faith vs doubt, distrust. Meekness vs proud, arrogant. Temperance (self control) vs no restraint.
Jude 1:24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, [KJV] . . . God through Jesus is so loving, so wonderful, so powerful. He can protect His TRUE children from their enemies. Because of what Jesus has done, God prepares TRUE Christians to come to live with Him in Heaven. What a wonderful future that will be! What great joy it gives us, now and always! We have an inheritance that we can look forward to! 1 Peter 1:4-5 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. (KJV) . . . That mansion is waiting for us. And it belongs to us! It has our name on it! What He has started, He can finish! (Heb.12:2). What great JOY that is!

Contentment.
1 Tim. 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. [KJV] . . . Godliness (righteousness, obedience to God) is the key to spiritual growth, personal fulfillment and contentment. We should always honor God and center our desires on Him.
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. [KJV] . . . We should be content with what God is doing in our lives.
1 Timothy 6:8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. [KJV] . . . We need to consider the difference between needs and wants. We may have all we need to live, but are anxious, dissatisfied and discontented over things that we want. We should NOT be a slave to our desires. We should NOT covet.
Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. [KJV] . . . How can we be content? Try to live with less rather than lusting for more. God’s love is expressed in what He has provided. Remember that money and possessions will all pass away. Contentment comes when we realize God is capable, and willing to supply all our needs. We must never think that God can’t take care of us. Insecurity can lead to the love of money, whether we are rich or poor. Trust God to fill all your needs.

Comfort, Consolation.
2 Thes. 2:16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, [KJV] . . . Our Lord Jesus Christ and God our Father love us in a very special way. They give us everlasting comfort and good hope, through their unmerited grace.
Philippians 2:1 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, [KJV] . . . If, does not express any doubt here, but the opposite, and is to be considered as a strong statement . . . there IS tremendous consolation in Christ, just as there is comfort in love. If you are in Christ, you have consolation (comfort) against your afflictions. The followers of Christ give proof of their ardent love to each other in cases of distress, and ease the sufferings of the persecuted. TRUE Christians have fellowship with the Holy Spirit, as they stand fast in one spirit (Phil.1:27), and show that you do persevere in the same Spirit (1 Cor.12:4-5), which acts in all the members of the spiritual body of Christ, and that do in Christ, their Head, partake of it.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. [KJV] . . . If you love Jesus, you have this amazing comfort within your heart and soul.

Patience, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith.
Gal. 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, [KJV] . . . The fruit of the Spirit is the unrestrained work of the Holy Spirit in us. The Spirit produces these fruits in us, which are actually the character traits that are found in the nature of Christ. They are the by-products of Christ’s control. We cannot achieve them on our own. If we want the fruit of the Spirit to grow in us, we must join our lives to Jesus (John 15:4-5). We must know Him, love Him, trust Him, obey Him, and imitate Him, and we must never quench the Spirit’s work (1 Thes. 5:19). Praying for these fruits is a wise decision indeed.
Luke 17:5 And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. [KJV] . . .  The disciples did it, we can too! Some people are afraid to ask for patience, because they fear troubles and tribulations may come. That is how we grow in Christ . . . problems in life. Always remember:
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. [KJV] . . . Please understand . . . this does NOT mean that ALL that happens to us is good, for this is not so. Evil dominates our fallen world, BUT, God is well able to turn every circumstance around for our long-range good. Also please realize that God is not working to make us happy, but to fulfill His purpose. And please remember that this Promise is NOT for everyone. It belongs only to those who love God and are called according to His purpose. The “called” are those the Holy Spirit wins over to Christ. These believers have a new outlook and a new mind-set on life. They trust God, not this world’s treasures and pleasures, They look for their security in Heaven, not here on Earth; and they learn to accept pain and persecution because God walks with them through it all, giving comfort and encouragement.

Meekness, Self-control.

Gal.5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. [KJV] . . . More fruit of the Spirit! God gave the law, and He also gave His Spirit. The by-products of the Spirit-filled life are in perfect harmony with the God’s law. A person who displays the fruit of the Spirit fulfills God’s law far better than a person who observes the rituals but has little love in their heart.  Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. (KJV) . . . Only our Lord Jesus can teach you to be meek. Since He was meek, we should follow His example and be meek and mild mannered.    Matthew 5:5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. (KJV) . . . Jesus’ words in the Beatitudes and elsewhere, seem to contradict each other. But then, God’s way of living usually always contradicts the world’s way! Give when others take, love when others hate, help when others harm, give up your rights to serve others. This is being meek. Meekness comes from God.

Privileges of Believers
Chapter 2
Being God’s Child

Abiding in Christ.
John 15:4-5 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. [5] I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. (KJV) . . . God must sometimes discipline us to strengthen our character and faith. Branches that don’t bear fruit are cut off at the trunk because (1.) they are worthless, (2.) they infect the rest of the tree. People who refuse to bear fruit to the glory of God or who try to block the efforts of God’s followers will be cut off from His life-giving power.

Partaking of the Divine nature.
2 Peter 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. (KJV) . . . The power to grow spiritually does not come from within us, but from God. Because we cannot be truly godly, God allows us to “participate in the divine nature” to keep us from sin and help us to live for Him. When we are born again, the Holy Spirit empowers us with His Divine goodness. (John 3:6; 14:17-23; 2 Cor. 5:21; 1 Peter 1:22-23).

Access to God by Christ.
Eph. 2:18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. (KJV) . . . Neither Jews nor Gentiles can be saved by good deeds, knowledge, or sincerity. We all need to be saved through Christ Jesus. Both Jews and Gentiles are then free to access God’s Throne of grace through Christ, and only through Christ, for we have been brought near to Him (Ep. 2:13).

Being of the household of God.
Eph. 2:19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; (KJV) . . . God’s household is a group of people. He lives in us and reveals Himself to a watching world through us. People should see that God is love and that Christ is Lord as we live in harmony with each other and to live a life that is pleasing to Him. We are citizens of God’s Kingdom! Those who have accepted God’s free gift of salvation, have been entitled to be God’s children.
John 1:12-13 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13  Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. [KJV] . . . God has adopted us into His family as His children! That means we have the rights of a natural born child.

Membership with the Church of the first-born.
Hebrews 12:23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, [KJV] . . .  One day this world will be gone. Only God’s Kingdom will last. Those who follow Christ are part of this secure kingdom. No matter what happens here, our future is built on a Solid Foundation that cannot be destroyed (Jesus). Build your life on Christ! .
Matthew 7:24-29 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25  And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26  And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27  And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. 28  And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: 29  For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. [KJV]

Chapter 3
We Have MUCH!

We have Christ for our Shepherd.
Isaiah 40:11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young. (KJV) . . . I love this verse! This is a picture of Christ’s loving and tender care for His sheep! God is often pictured as a shepherd, gently caring for and guiding His flock. He is powerful (Is.40:10), yet careful and gentle. He is called a Shepherd (Psalm 23); the Good Shepherd (John 10:11,14); the Great Shepherd (Heb.13:20); and the Chief Shepherd (1 Peter 5:4). Let us, as defenseless sheep, rely on God’s caring strength.
John 10:14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. (KJV) . . . Jesus knows whom He has chosen, and they also know whom they have trusted, and are sure of Him.
John 10:16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. (KJV) . . . The “other sheep” were non-Jews. Jesus came to save Gentiles as well as Jews. He came to die for the sins of the world. People seem to want to restrict God’s blessings to their own little group, but Jesus won’t be limited by any fences we build.

We have Christ for our Intercessor.
Romans 8:34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. [KJV] . . . Jesus intercedes for ALL God’s children in Heaven. God has declared us “not guilty” because of our faith in His Son (Rom.5:1-10), and has removed our sin and guilt; so it is Satan, not God, who accuses us. When he does, Jesus stands at God’s right hand to present our case.
Heb.7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. [KJV] . . . No one can add to what Jesus did to save us! All sins: past, present, and future are all forgiven. If you are a Christian, remember that Christ has paid the FULL price for your sins once and for all. (Heb. 9:24-28.)
1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: [KJV] .  . Jesus Christ, our Advocate, our Defender, is the Son of God. He has already paid the penalty for our sin. You cannot be tried for a case that is no longer on the docket. When you are united with Christ, you are as safe as He is.

We have the promises of God.
2 Cor. 7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. (KJV) . . . Purifying ourselves means: (1.) turning away from sin, and (2.) turning to God. “Perfecting holiness” can be brought about only through Christ! Christ is our righteousness (1 Cor.1:30), and Christ is our holiness (1 Thes. 3:12-13). So we must walk in the light of Jesus to perfect holiness. We should be consecrated to Jesus in our lives.
Titus 1:2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; [KJV] . . . God does not lie. The foundation of our faith is trust in God. God is Truth, He is the source of all Truth, He cannot lie! Believing in Him leads to godliness and a life-style that pleases Him. Eternal life is ours! God keeps His promises.
1 John 2:25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life. (KJV) . . . The Promise God makes, matches His own greatness, power, and goodness; it is eternal life.
2 Cor. 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. [KJV] . . . This Promise is one I claim every day! My health is not good, and He sees me through each and every day! Thank You Jesus!
Hebrews 13:5-B - - - - - - - - - - - - I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. [KJV] . . . this is another Promise I claim daily. It brings tremendous comfort, joy and peace. Thank You Jesus!

We have the possession of all things.
1 Cor. 3:21-22 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours; [22] Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours; [KJV] . . . If worldly wisdom keeps you away from God, it is NOT wisdom, it is stupidity! God’s way of thinking and doing things is much better, even if it seems foolish to the world (1 Cor. 1:27). Everything belongs to you: the whole world and life and death; the present and the future, because you are heirs of God, and He owns it all!

We have all things working for our good.
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. [KJV] . . . This does not mean that all that happens to us is good. Evil is common in our fallen world, but God is able to turn every circumstance around for our long-range good. Remember, God does not work to make us happy, but to fulfill His purpose. This Promise is NOT for everyone. It can be claimed only by those who love God and are called according to His purpose. Those who are “called” are those the Holy Spirit convinces and empowers to receive Christ. These people have a new viewpoint and a new mind-set on life. They trust in God, not in life’s fleeting treasures; they look for their security in Heaven, not on Earth; and they learn to accept, not resent pain and persecution.

We have our names written in the book of life.
Luke 10:20-B - - - - - - - - - - - - - but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven. [KJV] . . . Your most important victory in this life is that your name is written in Heaven. And dear one, only Christ Jesus can place your name in the Lamb’s Book of Life (Rev.21:27). This awesome honor is much more important than ANY of your accomplishments.
Rev. 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. (KJV) . . . At the Great White Throne Judgment, the books will be opened. This is a very sad verse to me, because many of my family will be here. IF their names are not found in the Book of Life, they will be “cast into the lake of fire” (Hell). Those whose names are in the Book of Life, are those who have put their trust in Christ to save them, and Heaven is theirs!
Rev. 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life. [KJV] . . . Only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life will be allowed access to Heaven. Jesus has made eternal life available. Trust Him to secure your citizenship in Heaven. He will!

Chapter 4
God Is Many Things To Us.

God is our King.
Psalm 5:2 Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray. [KJV] . . .  The secret of a close relationship with God is to pray to Him earnestly each morning. In the morning, our minds are more free from problems so we can commit the whole day to Him. Regular communication helps any friendship and is absolutely necessary for a strong relationship with God. We need to communicate with Him daily. Do you have a regular time to pray and read God’s Word? If not, re-arrange your schedule!
Isaiah 44:6 Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. [KJV] . . . The King of Israel is the King also of all believers! There is not a God for the Jews and another God for the Gentiles. Almighty God the Father and Almighty God the Son (Jesus) is the first, and the last (Rev.1:8,17). There is NO other God beside Him! Who can compare with our King?

God is our Glory.
Psalm 3:3  But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. [KJV] . . . When things go against us, it is tempting to think God is also against us. But that is not so. When everything seems to go wrong, God is still for us and with us. If circumstance has turned against you, don’t blame God, SEEK Him immediately!
Isaiah 60:19 The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the Lord shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory. [KJV] . . . One day we will no longer need the sun or moon to give us light, for the Lord God will be our everlasting Light, and He will be our glory (Rev.21:23-24; 22:5).

God is our Protection.
Micah 7:7 Therefore I will look unto the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me. [KJV] . . . Salvation most often in the Old Testament means protection and  deliverance. We can have a relationship with God that can allow us to have great confidence. True safety and comfort can be found only by looking to the Lord, and waiting on God, our Salvation.
Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? [KJV] . . . Fear is a dark shadow that tries to  imprison us within ourselves. We all have been a prisoner of fear at some time: fear of persecution, rejection, misunderstanding, uncertainty, sickness, death. We cannot conquer fear on our own, but the bright freeing light of the Lord brings release. If we want to cast out the darkness of fear, turn to the Lord!
Isaiah 12:2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. [KJV] . . . IF we truly love and trust the Lord, we will not be afraid (1 John 4:18).

God is our Father.

Deut. 32:6 Do ye thus requite the Lord, O foolish people and unwise? is not he thy father that hath bought thee? hath he not made thee, and established thee? [KJV] . . . God deals with us by unerring wisdom and perfect justice. He is always just and right. We all are imperfect. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, we lie! All willful sinners, Israel or Christians are unwise and ungrateful.
Isaiah 64:8 But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand. [KJV] . . . God is our Father. We are the clay, He is the Potter. We are all formed by His Hand. No created object has the right to demand anything from its Creator, for our very existence depends on Him. We should keep this in mind so we don’t take pride in personal achievement.
1 Cor. 1:3 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. [KJV] . . . Grace is God the Father’s free gift of salvation given to us in Christ. Receiving it brings us peace (Rom.5:1). In a world of noise, confusion and relentless pressures, people long for peace. Many give up the search, thinking it doesn’t exist, but true peace of the heart and mind is readily available to us through faith in Christ Jesus.
Galatians 1:4  Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: [KJV] . . . You were saved to live for God. Does your life show how grateful you are for being rescued? Is your loyalty with Christ? Or the world?
Philip. 4:20 Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen. [KJV] . . . We should sing our praises to God every day we live. We should look on God, not as an enemy, but as a loving Father, willing to love us and have compassion on us; to help us when we are weak and foolish. We must give glory to God as a Father for His grace and favor, is enjoyed by all His children. All has been purchased for us by Christ’s merit, and applied to us by His pleading for us. Thank Him always!
1 John 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. [KJV] . . . How privileged wer are! Almighty God allows us to call Him Father!

God is our Redeemer.
Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer. [KJV] . . . Do you ask God to approve your words and thoughts? Did you ever consider they really are like offerings brought to the altar. As you start each day, ask God to let His love guide what you say, what you think and what you do.
Eph. 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; [KJV] . . . A redeemer is one who has the duty  of restoring the rights of another and making right his wrongs. This title is applied to Christ, the Son of God. He redeems us from all evil by the payment of a ransom (His Sacrifice on the cross).

God is our Friend.
John 15:14-15 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. [15] Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. [KJV] . . . The joy of those who abide in Christ’s love is a continual feast. We must show our love to Him by keeping His commandments. Christ’s love to us should make us willing to love each other. LOVE is His command to us. If we do not love, we are not His friend. If we want God as our Friend, we must love!
James 2:23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. [KJV] . . . Abraham was “considered righteous” because he believed God; and he was justified because he believed God (Rom. 4:1-5). True faith always results in deeds, but those deeds do not justify us. Our faith in Christ brings us salvation; and our obedience to Him shows our faith is real. Every TRUE believer is a friend of God.

God is our Helper.
Psalm 33:20 Our soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our shield. [KJV] . . . All human striving for the salvation of our souls is in vain; but the Lord knows those who fear His Name. All who fear God and His wrath, must hope in God and in His mercy. We must never run from Him, but run TO Him! Let us always rely on the comfort and benefit of His help, not because of our merits, but because of the Promise which He has given us. God cannot lie!
Hebrews 13:6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. [KJV] . . . God is our Helper, why should we fear anything man shall do to us?

God is our Keeper.
Psalm 121:4-5 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. [5] The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. [KJV] . . . Our confidence should be in God alone. We must see all our help comes from God; and from Him we must expect it, but, in His own way and time. God is a wakeful, watchful Keeper. He is never tired; and He does not sleep. The Lord shall chase away the evil you fear, and He will remove the evil you feel. He will preserve our soul from eternal destruction. He keeps us in life and death. He will protect us in this life and the life to come. Thank You Jesus!

God is our Deliverer.
2 Samuel 22:2 And he said, The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; [KJV] . . . If we trust God in little things, we will soon learn that He is there in our greatest dangers. We will not be delivered from all enemies until we get to Heaven, but God will preserve all His people.
Psalm 18:2 The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. [KJV] . . . God’s protection of His people is limitless. God is like (1.) a rock that can’t be moved by any who would harm us, (2.) a place of safety where the enemy can’t follow, (3.) a shield standing between us and harm, (4.) our strength and power, (5.) a stronghold high above our enemies. When we need protection, God is there.

God is our Refuge.
Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. [KJV] . . . Do you fear the mountains or cities suddenly crumbling because of a bomb? Dear one, even if the world all around us would be destroyed, we need not fear IF God is on our side. God is our Refuge even in total destruction. He is not just a temporary Retreat; He is our eternal Refuge and can provide strength and peace in any circumstance. Remember this!

Isaiah 25:4 For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall. [KJV] . . . Do you really grasp the words here? Really wonderful! He is a strength to the poor, He is a Refuge from the storms of life, He strengthens the needy in their distress. He is a Shelter from the heat and rain; for the oppression of ruthless people are like a storm beating against a wall. God is there for His children in ANY situation.

God is our Shield.
Psalm 84:11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. [KJV] . . . God does not promise to give us everything we think is good, but He will not withhold anything that is permanently good. He will give us wisdom to walk along His paths, but we must do the walking. When we obey Him, He will not hold anything back that will help us serve Him. God the Father has already given us His Best (His Son); why would He withhold any good thing from us?
Psalm 91:4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. [KJV] . . . I love this verse. This pictures our Lord as a mother hen protecting her young. Any of you who have seen a mother hen caring for her chicks know how protective she can be. She will attack anything 100 times her size if her chicks are in danger! God and Christ is our protecting Shield against troubles and dangers. Trade all your fears for faith in Him, no matter how great your fears. Rest in Him today, under His protective wings.

God is our Light.
1 John 1:5-6  This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. [6] If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: [KJV] . . . Light represents all that is good, pure, true, holy, and reliable. Darkness represents all that is sinful and evil. “God is light” means that God is perfect. He is holy, pure and true and only He alone can guide us out of the darkness of sin. Darkness cannot exist in the presence of light, and sin cannot exist in the Presence of a Holy God. To have a relationship with God, sin must stop. When we do stumble and sin, confess it immediately (1 John 1:9). We cannot say we are “Christians” and live in the darkness of the devil.

God is our Guide.
John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. [KJV] . . . The Holy Spirit guides us into all Truth (the Truth about Jesus). He also helps us through patient practice to discern right from wrong.
Psalm 48:14 For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death. [KJV] . . . We often pray for God’s guidance as we struggle with problems. We need both guidance and a guide; a constant Companion who knows the way and will make sure we get there correctly. The Bible is our map, and the Holy Spirit is our constant Companion and Guide. Thank You Jesus!

Privileges of Believers
Chapter 5
We Are Privileged

We are united in God and Christ.
John 17:21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. [KJV] . . . Jesus’ great desire for His disciples was that they would become one. He wanted them, then and now, to be unified as a powerful witness to show the reality of God’s love. We can pray for others, avoid gossip, build each other up, work together in meekness, give our time and money, exalt Christ, and refuse to argue over matters that would divide us. Jesus prayed for unity of believers based on our unity with Him and the Father. We can know unity among themselves only if we are living in union with God.
John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. [KJV] . . . Each branch living in union with the Vine is united with all other branches doing the same. The only way to live a truly good life is to stay close to Jesus. We must be like branches attached to the vine. Apart from Christ our efforts are unfruitful. We must receive nutrition and life offered by Christ, the Vine. Without being united to Christ, you are missing an extremely special gift He has for you.

We have confidence in God.
Psalm 31:5 Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O Lord God of truth. [KJV] . . . David said “Into your hands I commit my spirit.” He had complete trust in God. Jesus used these words as He was dying on the cross, thus showing His absolute dependence on God the Father (Luke 23:46). Stephen said these words as he was being stoned to death (Acts 7:59). He was confident that in death he was simply passing from God’s earthly care to God’s eternal care. We should commit our total being completely to Him. Holding back any part is showing doubt or distrust in the Lord.
Philip. 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: [KJV] . . . Our God who began a good work in us will continue it all through our lifetime and will finish it when we meet Him Face to face. God’s work started for us when Christ died on the cross in our place. His work started in us when we first had faith and believed. Now because the Holy Spirit lives in us, God’s work in us continues, enabling us to be more like Christ every day.
2 Tim. 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. [KJV] . . . I know Whom I have believed. Our feeble faith can grasp and hold tight to a powerful Saviour. We should deposit our complete trust in Him. I am sure He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until the day of His return. In spite of so many enemies around me, I know that my body, soul, and spirit, which I have committed to Him is in safe keeping (1 Thes. 5:23; 1 Peter 4:19).

We can call upon God in our trouble.
Psalm 50:15 And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me. [KJV] . . . In the day of our darkest distress, we can go to the Lord in earnest prayer. Our troubles, even though God may allow them to happen, must drive us TO Him, not away from Him. We must honor Him in all our ways, depend on His wisdom, power, love and goodness, and deliver ourselves entirely to Him, and always give Him the glory. Jesus is willing to help if we only ask Him. Don’t ever slight His power even in terrible trials.
Psalm 138:3 In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul. [KJV] . . . Have you asked God for peace, protection, strength, comfort, patience, love or other special needs? Did He supply them? Did you thank Him? Please beware of taking God’s provision and answered prayer for granted.

We suffer for Christ.
Acts 5:41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name. [KJV] . . . Have you ever thought of pain or persecution as a blessing? Do you ever rejoice about it? The beating suffered by Peter and John was the first time any of the apostles had been physically abused for their faith. These men knew how Jesus had suffered, and they praised God that He had allowed them to be persecuted for His sake. If you are mocked or persecuted for your faith, it isn’t because you are doing something wrong, it is because the Lord has counted you “worthy of suffering disgrace for His Name.”
Philip. 1:29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake; [KJV] . . . Paul considered it a privilege to suffer for Christ. We do not by nature consider suffering to be a ‘privilege.’ But dear one, suffering does have some benefits: (1.) it takes our eyes off of earthly comforts; (2.) it weeds out superficial believers; (3.) our faith is strengthened; (4.) it teaches us patience; (5.) it helps us to help others who may follow us. When we suffer for our faith, it does NOT mean that we have done something wrong. Actually the opposite is true; it proves that we have been faithful. Allow suffering to build your character. Don’t resent it, don’t let it tear you down.

We profit by chastisement.
Psalm 119:67 Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word. [KJV] . . . However God has dealt with us, He has dealt with us far better than we deserve; and He does it all in love, and for our good. Many people have knowledge, but little wisdom; those who have both, are fortified against the snares of Satan, and equipped for the service of God. We are most likely to wander from God, when things are going right and easy in the world. When we stray, He will rebuke and chastise us (Heb.12:5-8;  Rev.3:19).
Hebrews 12:10-11 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. [11] Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. [KJV] . . . It is never pleasant to be corrected and disciplined by God, but His discipline is a sign of His deep love for us. Any time God rebukes and/or corrects you, look at it as proof of His love. Ask Him what He is trying to teach you, IF you do not already know! We can respond to discipline in several ways: (1.) accept it knowing it is right, (2.) accept it with self-pity, thinking we don’t deserve it; (3.) be angry and resentful toward God; or (4.) accept it willingly and gratefully.

We are to intercede for others.
James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. [KJV] . . . To intercede for someone is to pray for them or make a petition to God on their behalf. Christ has made it possible for us to go directly to God for forgiveness (Rom.5:1-2; 1 John 1:9). We are to confess our sins to God but our faults one to another. If I have hurt you, then I should confess that to you, and try to make it right. But I should never confess my sins to you, and you should not confess your sins to me. You are to confess sins to the Lord (1 John 1:9). NO person can forgive sins; neither can any pastor or priest forgive sins, only God can forgive sins! But we are to go to God in prayer on behalf of others.
1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: [KJV] . . . In Old Testament times, people did not approach God directly. A Levite priest acted as mediator between God and sinful human beings. But, with Christ’s victory on the cross, that changed. Now we can come directly into God’s Presence without fear (Heb.4:16), and we are given the responsibility of bringing others to Him as well (2 Cor. 5:18-21). When we are united with Christ, we are members of His body, and we join in His priestly work of reconciling God and man. People often base their self-concept on what they have accomplished. But our relationship with Christ is far more important than our jobs, successes, wealth, or knowledge. We have been chosen by God as His very own, and we have also been called to represent Him to others. Most believers tend to forget this. It is NOT an option to intercede, but a command! (Mat.28:19). Remember, your value comes from being one of God’s children, not from what you can achieve. You have worth because of what God does, not because of what you do. You are privileged!

We are tied to responsibility.
Romans 1:5-6 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name: [6] Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ: [KJV] . . . Through Christ, God has given us the privilege, authority and responsibility to tell people everywhere what God has done. It is our DUTY to tell of Jesus so that they will believe and obey Him, and bring glory to His Name.
Romans 8:26-27 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. [27] And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. [KJV] . . .  “I can’t do it” you say. “I can’t tell people about Jesus; I don’t know what to say.” YES YOU CAN! Many times we seem like we are up against a brick wall. So many “Christians” never even attempt to tell people about Jesus. You do not need to be an expert on the Bible. Just tell people what Jesus means to you. Each time you do, it gets easier! Don’t ever be concerned with what people will think, your concern is: what God does think? We as believers, are not left to our own resources to cope with problems. Even when you don’t know the right words to pray, the Holy Spirit prays with and for you, and God answers. With the Holy Spirit interceding for you, you can intercede for others. And you can be a witness for Jesus.Go ye therefore.” (Mat.28:19)

CLOSING COMMENTS

Most people believe there is a God. And they believe He created the Universe. They also believe He could take them at any moment if He wanted to. It’s so strange to me that they don’t believe God is capable of giving them eternal life. God will give eternal life to anyone who trusts in His Holy Son. There is a Hell, and only Jesus can keep you from going there! When you trust Him to save you, you then have all the privileges spoken of in this book.

CITY OF GOLD

One day I’ll walk on those streets of gold,
For I am His child, and in His fold.
I’ll go to that golden city so high,
And be so joyous, ne’er more to cry.

Christ has gone on to prepare a place,
Someday soon, I’ll see His glorious Face.
He will come again for me and you,
For all who believe, and to Him are true.

That city of beauty, made of pure gold,
And the glory of God we’ll behold.
No need for the sun or moon to shine,
The glory of God will lighten so fine.

That holy city, New Jerusalem,
Will come down from God, as a fine gem.
He shall be our God, holy and true,
We shall be His people, me and you.

If you know our Saviour, Christ the Lord,
You’ll see this city on your own accord.
You too will walk on those streets of gold,
Heir to His Kingdom of beauty untold!

We as God’s children have the privilege of being His heirs. What does God own?? Everything! This magnificent City is the place God has prepared for His children. The only requirement for entrance: believe, trust and accept God’s only begotten Son and He will give you the key! Eternal life is yours! You will spend eternity with Jesus, our Lord.

WHAT WILL HELL BE LIKE?

Hell will be a prison of darkest despair,
There are so many things that will be there.
A lake of fire and brimstone, that there will be,
The judgment of God, and His final decree.

There will be suffering that’s not met its match,
Such pain and agony, and no gate with a latch.
Weeping and wailing, and gnawing of tongues,
Memory and remorse, have all just begun.

The fearful and unbelievers, and all liars,
All these will have their part, in the lake of fire.
The abominable, and all who hate God,
All who reject Christ, while on Earth they trod.

Then too, there are some things that will not be there,
Because Hell is a prison of dark despair.
No beautiful flowers on the banks of Hell,
None of the wonders of nature, we love so well.

No comforts of our home, no music, no song,
No friendship, no joy, and no peace in that throng.
No fluffy white clouds in the blue sky so bright,
No love and no smiles, and not one bit of light.

No more of God’s mercy, compassion or grace,
No pity, no water, --- what a terrible place!
One other thing that there simply will not be,
None of God’s children, for Christ has set us free.

These are just a few things, to ponder upon,
I pray you won’t wait long, to accept God’s Son.
Christ is the only One, that can save your soul,
And only He can place your name, on Heav’n’s roll.

FOREVER LOST

Without Christ, you are forever lost,
Friend, have you ever counted the cost?
Only Jesus can redeem your soul,
Just He has authority and control.

Forever lost, when you live in sin,
But Christ, for you, a new life begins!
Your sin, you must admit and repent,
Your forgiveness is why God’s Son was sent!

Forever lost; condemned to Hell!
Your unrighteousness, just Christ can quell!
Only Christ Jesus your soul can save,
And grant eternal life beyond the grave!

Are you without Christ and forever lost?
You don’t have to be; please count the cost!
If you turn to Jesus this v’ry day,
You’ll be forever saved, for alway!

LIFE BEYOND THE GRAVE

There is life beyond the grave; indeed,
So the Gospel of Christ we must heed.
Trust Jesus as your Saviour today,
Only with Him, will you go the right way!

For certain, there’s life beyond the grave,
List’ to the Gospel; be bold and brave.
To access God, you must go thru’ His Son,
Or the gates of Heaven can’t be won!

Beyond the grave, there’s eternity,
All souls are eternal; both you and me.
There’s two destinations, where we could go,
To blissful Heaven, OR Hell below!

As we on this Earth, our lives do live,
A free will; our gracious God does give.
He will not force us, to go His way,
He gives us freedom, to decide each day!

Accept OR reject Jesus, God’s Son,
This decision is an eternal one.
Only Christ, your soul from Hell can save,
For friend, there IS life, beyond the grave!
