The Day of the Lord Argument
Against the Pre-trib Rapture

A number people have attempted to refute the pre-trib Rapture by trying to associate the "Day of the Lord" with a catching-up of believers at the end of the Tribulation. They base their rapture views solely on the idea that the "Day of the Lord" and the Rapture are either one and the same or somehow linked together.
The problem of their argument as I see it, is the idea that the "Day of the Lord" and various other "days" of an end-time context refers to a 24 hour period that occurs at or near the end of the tribulation. Probably the most commonly cited verse is 1 Thessalonians 5:2 where Paul tells us the "Day of the Lord" will come "as a thief in the night."

I have read many articles about the "Day of the Lord" as Christ's arrival at Armageddon. It is my humble opinion that the "Day of the Lord" is NOT the Rapture of the saints that Paul speaks of in 1 Thes.4:13-18 and 1 Cor.15:51-54 . . . . . . . . . . . . . http://hisservants.org/rapture,_second_coming_h_s.htm

I do NOT believe that the Second Coming of Christ will come as a "as a thief in the night."

Read the following carefully:
Zechariah 14:2-5 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. 3  Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. 4  And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. 5  And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee. (KJV) . . . The Second Coming of Christ will NOT be "as a thief in the night."
Rev. 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. (KJV) . . . Neither will this will be "as a thief in the night."

Now read this:
1 Thes. 5:2-11  For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3  For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. 4  But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. 5  Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 6  Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. 7  For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. 8  But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. 9  For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, 10  Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. 11  Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. (KJV) . . . I believe that the Rapture is the BEGINNING, the START, of the day of the Lord, because immediately AFTER the Rapture removes all TRUE believers, the Antichrist will sign a peace treaty with Israel (Dan.9:26-27), but half way through the 7 year contract, Antichrist will break the contract . . . thus the Great Tribulation . . . the last half of the 7 year Tribulation period. This Passage in 1 Thes. 5:2-11, speaks of the Rapture of the saints of God. Jesus Himself tells us to WATCH!

WHAT did Jesus tell us to do? WATCH!!! For we know NOT when He shall arrive in the clouds to take God’s TRUE children HOME! The RAPTUE shall indeed be "as a thief in the night."

Matthew 24:42-44 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. 43  But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. 44  Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh(KJV)
Matthew 25:13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
(KJV)
Mark 13:33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.
(KJV)
Mark 13:35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:(KJV)
Mark 13:37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.(KJV)
Luke 12:40 Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not. (KJV)

The only time that I can think of when we believers would NOT be expecting Jesus to return would have to be BEFORE the Tribulation Period, because 1 The.5:9 states:  For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ. And also:

Rev. 3:10-11 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. 11  Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. (KJV) . . . Jesus tells us here we shall NOT have to go through the Great Tribulation! The hour of temptation is the Tribulation period, just as the words God hath not appointed us to wrath in 1 Thes.5:9 also mean God’s TRUE children shall NOT have to endure God’s wrath in that horrid time.
